Practical NLP – Identifying Your Purpose With NLP

Fear, doubt and uncertainty. These are the things that are associated with problems of a lack of personal vision in life. In order to build a clear vision, an individual needs to be personally aligned. But to what? How can someone who doesn’t know what to do in life know how to even align themselves!
Well, my basic answer is quite clear. It requires a combination of four major things.
- Role Models.
As an NLP practitioner, you need to be aware that there are many people who must have walked different paths before you. Generally, you want to seek people who are enlightened, wise and generous with their knowledge. Most successful people tend to be this way anyway! Don’t expect your role model to be 100% perfect. In fact, none of them are, and most role models are only good at one particular thing. Just model that one particular thing!
- Walk The Path.
If you have learnt stuff from your role model, then go and do it. If you are going to sit there and not do anything about your future, it will basically prevent you from reaching the desired goals of your dreams. Walking the path is not always simple. It definitely also requires patience and the willingness to accept mistakes and failure with a sense of responsibility to do better the next time.
- Work With A Coach.
Coaches are as fallible as role models. Coaches, however, have the responsibility to push you and keep you on your toes. You’ll want a tough coach! As time goes by, you have to also ask yourself the question: do you really want to just work on your own? I know many people who are able to chat with people about their problems but not everyone is able to voice out their inner opinions. As a result, you’ll find many people who are lost simply because of the internal ruminations that haven’t come out yet. Trust me – having a coach is going to allow you to open up your mind to more possibilities and help you reflect on what can be better.
- Connect The Dots.
If you aim to get anywhere, you really need to be focused on reflecting inwardly. What have you done and how has that helped you so far? What did you do well and not so well? By doing this, you get much clearer on the patterns of behavior that you have exhibited. This could open up a new world of awareness for you in terms of what you’ve been pursuing all your life and just didn’t know it!
Your direction in life is not a single moment. It’s a process and a series of processes. That’s why you’re a human “being”, not a human “doing”. Strive to be your best in anything you do and you’ll be surprised how much you find that purposeful!
